Infraero and the environment: a relationship of respect

Infraero¿s environmental target is to ensure compliance with the rules and standards of compliance in the operation, maintenance and expansion of airports administered by the company, aiming at the minimization and prevention of environmental aspects arising out of its activities.

A constant and priority concern, the company¿s environmental policy is coherent with the collective effort to protect nature and improve the quality of life of the population. By planning, building and operating airport facilities in accordance with national and international environmental laws, Infraero intends not only to demonstrate to the legislation the governmental guidelines, but also respect for the ecosystems and harmony with international environmental demands.

Infraero¿s Environmental Management System

The Environmental Management System is based on main lines of work, which guide the programs and environmental actions:

Compliance with the legislation: joins actions aimed at compliance with the environmental legislation.

Eco-efficiency: aims at the implementation of preventive actions, seeking the efficient use of natural resources, increase in productivity and reduction of costs.

Education and communication: prioritizes actions of awareness by the internal public and provides for the promotion of environmental education campaigns  in airports, as well as support to preservation programs of the flora and fauna.

Located in the head office, in Brasília, the Superintendence of the Environment and Energy (DEMB) coordinates specialized structures in seven regional superintendences, created exclusively to instruct and execute the activities related to environmental management of airports.

Environmental Programs

Infraero¿s environmental policy, with its management objectives and targets, is implemented through programs defined by the Environmental Management Committee, their respective actions being executed by the Environment and Energy Superintendence and by the environment areas of the regional superintendences.
