Water Resources Program

The Water Resources Management Program primarily seeks to take actions for the rational use of water. Rational use means the reduction of consumption, optimization of processes that use water and use of technologies that reduce water consumption in new construction and to make more efficient use in the existing facilities.

The program aims also at protecting the watershed and preservation of springs and watercourses, consistently with the activities of airports.

To fulfill the purpose of the Program, Infraero has developed activities and projects with research and teaching institutions, government institutions and the general community.

Examples of these actions, are the Public Call - Water in Airports. As a result of the call, Infraero has been conducting with the Funding Agency for Studies and Projects - FINEP a Term for Technical, Science and Finance Cooperation Agreement, whose works resulted in the development of eight projects at different airports.

As a result of these works, Infraero has been receiving a number of projects and, in some cases, with physical facilities focused on the efficiency of processes that use water resources as well as improving the management of these processes.

Infraero signed the Technical Cooperation Agreement with the National Water Agency - ANA to, from joint efforts between institutions, create and disseminate advertising campaigns to disclose the rational use of water conservation actions and develop water resources in the Brazilian airports .

The adoption of guidelines efficient for the reduction of water consumption has been achieved by means of the use of environmental requirements in new constructions and expansion of the airports.

The Requirements for Environmental Systems in Existing and New Undertakings are enabling the development of environmentally friendly projects, from the point of view of eco-efficiency and, in particular from the point of view of water, which will result in more efficient undertakings, when deployed.

These requirements specifically target: reduction - the requirement to use equipment with lower water consumption and same efficiency; reuse - capture and reuse of rainwater for non potable purposes; recycling - evaluating the possibility of using treated effluent for non-potable purposes
