Based on the premise to give proper handling to solid waste generated at airports in line with current legislation and best practices aimed at minimizing pollution and reducing costs, INFRAERO has employed various activities and projects in its Program for Solid Waste Management . The implantation of Selective Collection is one of the examples of good practices underway in the company. Currently, more than half of the INFRAERO airports perform selective collection, giving its waste to associations and cooperatives of collectors of recyclable materials, as recommended by the Decree No. 5940 of 25/10/2006. Together with the bodies of surveillance and sanitary control, INFRAERO has acted so as to provide its international airports of systems for the handling of residues from endemic areas or suspected of infectious diseases such as H5N1 and H1N1 influenza. Currently, there are 28 autoclaves installed in the INFRAERO’s network. |
